Izzy Hassebrock led the Idaho State Bengals women’s golf team with a three-round total of 222 (+6), tying for 19th place at the Bobcat Desert Classic, according to an April 15 announcement. The tournament took place over three days at the Golf Club of Estrella.

The event brought together a field that included seven Big Sky Conference programs among its thirteen teams. Head Coach Todd Loveland said, “The team played well overall finishing in a tight group of Big Sky schools. We only made a handful of putts outside of 10 feet and overall I feel we can improve on our lag putting and makes inside 8 feet. We will put the work in the next few days on the green and come out strong for our conference tournament.”

Hassebrock’s performance was highlighted by her second-round score of 70, which was more than six strokes below the field average for that round (76.49). This was also her lowest round of the tournament and marked her third top-20 finish this season. Loveland said, “Freshman Izzy Hassebrock had another stellar performance and top 20 finish this week for us. Her game this entire year has been beyond my high expectations for her as a player and I feel the best is yet to come for both her and our team in the conference championship at the Wigwam Blue course.”

Other notable performances included Avery Bayer, who improved each day with rounds of 81, 76, and 75 to tie for 48th place at +16; Andrea Chin finished tied for 52nd after closing with a final-round score of 75; Kaylie Parola opened with a first-round low score but ended tied for 62nd; Lauren Aasand finished tied for 64th as an individual competitor; Caroline Ryan competed individually as well.

As a team, Idaho State posted scores of 305, 304, and 306 across three rounds to finish eleventh out of thirteen teams with an overall total score of +51 (915). Seattle University won first place with -3 (873).

Idaho State will compete next at the Big Sky Championship from April 20-22 at Wigwam Golf Club in Goodyear.
