Idaho State University student-athletes Axel Tirado-Sanchez and Kaila Mederios have received the first Big Sky Player of the Week awards for the Idaho State Bengals women’s track and field team this season. Their achievements took place during the 2025 Idaho State Winter Open at the ICCU Dome.
Tirado-Sanchez was recognized as Men’s Field Athlete of the Week after delivering a weight throw of 19.20 meters (63-0), which broke the Idaho State indoor school record. This performance is currently the second-best in the Big Sky Conference this season and ranks 39th in NCAA standings overall.
Mederios earned Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors with a long jump of 6.01 meters (19-8.75). Her result also set a new school record for Idaho State and stands as the second-best mark in the Big Sky so far this season, ranking her 20th nationally in NCAA competition.
