Idaho State Men’s Basketball announced on May 17 the addition of three transfer players—Ty Virgil, Eyal Harel, and Jeremiah Dorsey—for the upcoming 2026-27 season. Head Coach Ryan Looney said these additions are part of an ongoing effort to rebuild the team’s roster after significant departures from last year.
The Bengals are returning less than two percent of their scoring, rebounding, and assists from last season. With most of last year’s team leaving due to graduation or transferring out, Idaho State’s coaching staff is focusing on recruiting through the transfer portal, player development, and international scouting.
Jeremiah Dorsey joins as a senior point guard after a standout season at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He averaged 16.6 points, four assists, and three steals per game while earning First Team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference honors. “Jeremiah has three years of college basketball experience,” Looney said. “He has proven his ability to play and experience success at the college level. Jeremiah will impact the game defensively.” Dorsey’s defensive skills ranked him fourth nationally in steals per game during his previous season.
Eyal Harel comes from Pacific as a sophomore guard with international experience gained in Israel’s Winner League and EuroCup competitions. During FIBA U20 EuroBasket play with Maccabi Haifa B.C., he averaged nearly ten points per game. “Eyal has great experience at different levels of basketball,” Looney said. “He has great size for the guard position. Eyal is a great addition to our roster.”
Ty Virgil arrives after redshirting last year at Pepperdine and previously averaging over twenty-two points per game during his prep career at Hillcrest Prep in Arizona. “Ty is a very talented player,” Looney said. “He is a tough shot maker and has great length for his position. Our coaching staff is looking forward to working with him.” Virgil adds further depth to Idaho State’s perimeter group.
With these additions—alongside two returning players and ten other new recruits—the Bengals now have fifteen players on their roster for next season as they prepare for competition in the Big Sky Conference.
