Idaho State University Athletics announced on Apr. 17 that Jason Alvine has been named the new ESPN+ and radio play-by-play voice for Bengal Women’s Basketball, Volleyball, and Softball starting with the 2026-27 season.

The appointment is significant as it aims to enhance coverage of women’s athletics at Idaho State across multiple platforms, including simulcasts on KISU and ESPN+. Alvine will collaborate with the Bengals’ Sports Information and Media Relations team to provide comprehensive coverage of home contests in volleyball and softball, as well as women’s basketball.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Jason into this prominent role with our broadcast team,” said Pauline Thiros, Director of Athletics. “Jason’s extensive experience behind the microphone, combined with his deep understanding of collegiate athletics and his connection to Idaho State makes him an outstanding fit to represent our programs. He brings professionalism, preparation, and passion that will elevate the way we tell the stories of our student-athletes to our fanbase.”

Alvine previously served as a graduate assistant for Idaho State Women’s Basketball during their 2015-16 Big Sky Conference runner-up season and was most recently an assistant coach during the 2024-25 season. His broadcasting background includes lead play-by-play roles for football and men’s basketball at the University of Northern Colorado on ESPN+, along with experience at Montana State University calling football and women’s basketball games.

“I am humbled and honored to take over the broadcast duties for Idaho State Volleyball, Women’s Basketball, and Softball. After spending a couple of years away from the airwaves, my passion for play-by-play has been reignited, and I look forward to that passion coming across in my calls,” said Jason Alvine. “I know the standard of ISU Athletics, and want to thank Director of Athletics Pauline Thiros, and coaches Sean Carter, Seton Sobolewski, and Andrew Rich for trusting me to bring those standards to Bengals fans everywhere. Go Bengals!”

Alvine holds a journalism degree from Northern Colorado University as well as a master’s degree in athletic administration from Idaho State University. His combination of storytelling skills, technical expertise, institutional knowledge is expected by university officials to strengthen Bengal Athletics’ digital presence moving forward.
