Cost of college went up for all students at Idaho State University

In-state tuition and fees rose 3.5 percent for 2018-19 at Idaho State University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Idaho residents paid $7,420 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $254 more than the $7,166 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 209.2 percent more than residents this year, or $22,940. Their price tag grew 4.5 percent from $21,942 in 2017-18.

About 92 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Idaho residents. About 6 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 92 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,236 students received grants or scholarships totaling $8 million and 705 students took out student loans totaling more than $3.9 million.

Including all undergraduates (12,363), 5,500 students used grants or scholarships totaling $36.7 million, and 4,052 students took out $27.6 million in federal student loans.
