In a new #HearHim video and blog post, Young Women General President Bonnie H. Cordon says that we can be blessed through difficult times when we hear and trust the Lord, then act on His direction.
In the video, President Cordon recalls a difficult time in her life when she felt the love of the Savior, “and through His grace, felt healed, supported.”
Feeling reluctant to visit a children’s hospital while grieving the recent death of her own grandchild, Sister Cordon tells how she received a prompting that said, “Just go, just go.”
On a whiteboard in the room of a child she was visiting, she read the words from Proverbs 3:5: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Those word “opened my vision, healed my heart,” she said.
“I was so grateful that the Lord gave me this gift. And I can’t even imagine if I hadn’t have listened, but the gift and the joy that came into my heart as I realized the eternities was an immense blessing. And I was grateful that He had given me that hard thing to do.”
The video was shared on President Cordon’s social media accounts, and it accompanies her blog article on ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
The video and blog post are the latest in the series of “How I Hear Him” features in which leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints share thoughts and experiences about how Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ speak to us.
In the blog article, President Cordon said that learning to hear Him “works differently for each of us because He knows exactly how to speak to us personally in our heart. But trusting in Him is always the same. It can be the hardest thing to trust and act on a spiritual nudge or initial impression.”
